Born in Australia,
Cole was affected by a tumor when she was just two years old.
After a failed treatment,
she had to have her right leg amputated.
Eight weeks after her amputation,
she started swimming and was able to master the sport in just two weeks.
At the age of 12, she started to compete in competitions.
In 2006 she competed at a world championship for the first time,
and then at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games she won the silver medal,
losing out on the gold to Natalie Du Toit,
the legendary South African swimmer. In London in 2012,
she beat Natalie and won four gold medals in total.
After her glory, she suffered an injury to her shoulder.
Many thought that she would not be able to compete again,
but after two years she came back to the pool
winning three gold medals at the 2015 world championship.
